I have now finished a production of Mozart's Le Nozze Di Figaro and had a really wonderful time on stage performing Count Almaviva, which easily became one of my favourite roles to sing. It was great fun to work on this character with the incredible stage director Jenny Miller who really helped me bring out the three-dimensional aspects of this man. Not only a generic unfaithful husband, but an incredibly messed up human being who, deep down, is the loneliest person in his household.
I also found out that my gorgeous costume was purchased at an auction from the Royal Opera House and that it was first made for Tito Gobbi!!! What an honour to wear a costume made for one of my idols!
Yet, there's no rest for the wicked and I've got my first read-through of Piazzolla's Maria de Buenos Aires this afternoon. It's shaping up to be an incredible project as well, which I hope you'll be able to catch at the Vaults Theatre in London.
In the meantime, I'll leave you with a few really nice shots from Nozze.
